Default Home Brew Power Amplifiers

I've built a few power amplifiers in my time and am just about to build a "GAINCLONE" type power amp.

I'm going to be using the LM3886 power amplifier IC, as I believe it has the potential to be the best IC around for building a simple, yet powerful, and very accurate, smooth, warm, Power Amp.

I've got the boards built up, and have it all soldered together.

I based it on the Specs for the LM3886 IC which can be found here:
http://www.national.com/ds/LM/LM3886.pdf

It seems to be a most amazing piece of technology, and I'm betting the sound will be just as impressive as the specs and write-ups about it.

Soon I will power it up with a series of batteries I got from my electric bike.

Plus / Minus 36 Volts of pure battery power Power Amplifier.

I would power it up with my AC transformer, but it is +/- 45 Volts and that may be a bit too high for the IC.

I don't want to blow it up right at the start.

After the battery power up, I will power it with the full +/- 45 Volts!

I expect it will be amazing!

I will post once I fire it up.

nice, I can think of a few places this mod would fit well.

A great replacement for burned amp modules.

Default Mosfet Amp

you have built more than a few amps in your time.
Do you remember the Mosfet amp you helped me design and build?
Well, the amp worked flawlessly for 5+ years. Until the Bias went out!
My own fault for using cheap pots.. Should have put in fixed value resistors.
Well I smoked the mosfets on the right channel. I'll order new ones when I get a chance. Unless the amp (above) will do the trick.
I was running 50V+-.

Oh the amp above is so smooth, it doesn't make any sense to make any other amplifier.

The only drawback is that this amp can only run off + / - 35 Volts.

Having pushed it to + / - 45 it blew up

And reversing the battery terminals smoked it too

Got to use some protective diodes in that baby

I run it off of two 12 Volt 12 Amp - Hour Lead Acid Rechargeable batteries and it is quite nice

Default Your home built power amplifier

Hello,
Any chance that you will sell these little modules, or a complete working amplifier? Or is there another place where I could purchase them?

(
Ye gods, that's tiny (unless that PCB is a foot across ).

Yes it is small, but I"m going to go with a different chip now, two channels in one chip

It will even be smaller ... half the size, and even more power
