Thumbs up OPPO - A Great Quality Universal Player

I'm a proud owner of the DV-980H No this is not a Blueray Player.
It does however play just about everything and anything you own as far as disk & flash media goes. I'm old school and still buy many factory pressed CD's mostly for the production quality and of course as a show of support to favorite artists. I purchased this unit because I was tired of the usual imperfections, let downs (skipping, dropped tracks) and noise I was getting with my consumer market POS cd player. Common sense dictates that connecting a quiet high-end amp like Dave's, didn't make any difference if the source was faulty. I didn't and still don't care about media cataloging or any of the fancy gadgets, bright lights, dash-pot doors etc, manufactures like Sony often incoporate. I was simply looking for a player that could offer clean professional sounding results without the professional cost.
This player has won numerous awards not only in it's ability to produce great sounding audio but also HD video as well!

Oppo was recommended to me by a jazz musician here in town.

Well, as I'm sure you are all aware by now Sony has of course made my fabulous Oppo obsolete. If you own a Playstation 3 you know this as the PS3 supports many different formats and is a Blu-Ray player to boot. I still have trouble trusting a game console for my audio needs but I must give credit to the PS3 as a flexible solution for Blu-Ray disks. The beauty of online connectivity makes the software updates a breeze.. If anyone finds a Blu-Ray player that has the ability to download updates and looks a little more serious than Sony's latest gaming console post it here!
